Katie Alcott

CEO & Founder
FRANK Water

Katie's interest in access to drinking water, was sparked on a trip to India in 1997. During time spent teaching at a community school in Kashmir, India, Katie suffered amoebic dysentery from drinking dirty water.

In 2005, Katie founded FRANK Water, a social enterprise. Based on the concept of water for water, raising funds for those who don't have it through the sale of a relative luxury; bottled water in the UK. In 2007, she established a registered charity that could receive direct donations, which to date has supported nearly 386,500 people in 442 villages to access safe, clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene training for some of the most marginalised communities in India and Nepal.
The innovative 'Festival Refill' initiative, delivered by the social enterprise, was developed in 2010 as a more sustainable drinking water solution for the UK festival and events market – saving millions of single-use plastic bottles from being consumed each year.

Having raised over £4 Million since starting up, FRANK Water's impact reaches far and wide.

Katie and FRANK Water have won numerous local and national awards. Katie was awarded an Honorary MBA from UWE Bristol in July 2013, and an Honorary Doctorate of Law from Bristol Universityin July 2018 in recognition of her pioneering work.
