Mr. Damber Singh Rai began his career as Forest Range Officer under the Department of Forests and Parks Services (DoFPS), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Bhutan in 1987. He took over the charges of Thimphu Forest Division as Divisional Forest Officer in 1996. He was appointed as the Park Manager of Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park in 1997.

In 2009 he established Wangchuck Centennial National Park, the largest National Park of Bhutan. During his tenure in the two National Parks, he was very instrumental in implementing many conservation interventions and community based developmental works through Integrated Conservation and Development Programs, covering almost 8 Districts in Bhutan. He also served as the Project Manager for Green Bhutan Project for the greening and beautification of Thimphu, capital city.

He served as the Chief Forestry Officer in Nature Recreation and Ecotourism Division; and Forest Protection and Enforcement Division of DoFPS. Mr. Damber Rai also served as the National Focal Point of Bhutan for Man and Biosphere Program-UNESCO. In December 2016, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Green Bhutan Corporation Limited, a state owned enterprise, with the core mandate of landscape afforestation program covering all degraded watersheds, spring-sheds and degraded wildlife habitats.

Mr. Damber Rai has the Masters Degree in Environmental Management and Restoration from Charles Sturt University, New South Wales, Australia.
