Mr. A. Ramesh Kumar is a reputed banker with 3 decades of experience with State Bank of India (SBI), the largest bank in India. As Chief General Manager of SBI, he managed SBI's Mumbai Circle consisting of 850 branches, 25,000 employees and over USD 15 bio of business and was instrumental in mainstreaming microfinance in the banking industry in Western India with innovative approaches. He also led International offices and Subsidiaries of the Bank.
He has a deep understanding of the Indian and global economy, as well as rich management experience and best governance practices in financial markets.
Mr. A Ramesh Kumar headed the National Committee on Rural Habitat. The committee's was an input for the Draft National Rural Habitat Policy.
He also was the MD & CEO of a Systemically Important NBFC for over 7 years adding valuable private sector experience to his rich public sector experience
He is an Ashoka Fellow
He is a Trustee of UTI Mutual Fund, an MF with AUM of over USD 20 bio
He has a Masters in Physics from Delhi University and an MBA
