With an experience of over 18 years and over 300 clients served across various industry sectors, and with a professional background in Civil Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Silchar and a Post Graduate Qualification in Environmental Management, Rajib Kumar Debnath has been associated with the Big 4 Firms – Deloitte and Ernst & Young, for over a decade now. He is presently serving as a Director with the Climate Change and Sustainability Services of Deloitte Touche and Tohmatsu India Private Limited. In the Climate Change and Sustainability Service market in India, he had always tried to be the first mover – some of the first set of companies in India that had executed Environmental, Health and Safety Management Systems; Clean Development Mechanism; Voluntary Carbon Standard; Sustainability Reporting and Carbon Accounting were facilitated by him. The first of its kind – Positive Water Balance Assessment, done for PepsiCo India, which is a depiction of corporate social responsibility and sustainability, is being led by him. He has to his credit, one of the largest CDM project in India, which has the potential to generate a revenue of approx. USD 300 million, over its entire life span, from the transaction of accrued carbon credits. He has played a key role on Montreal Protocol, from the platform of Deloitte, in facilitating the Govt. of India in phasing out some Ozone Depleting Substances in India, thru Public Private Partnership with Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India. A white-paper prepared by him on e-waste, for an E-waste forum organized by Assocham had been considered as one of the most important relevant base document for the preparation of e-waste legislation in India. He has to his credit, books written on "Environmental, Health and Safety Legal Requirements for Indian Industries" and "Corporate Sustainability Governance for industries in India". Needless to mention, some of his clients have earned accolades in corporate social responsibility and sustainability related initiatives. In the past, he has been delivering sessions on various subjects related to Climate Change and Corporate Sustainability in forums organized by CII, ASSOCHAM, Bengal Chambers of Commerce, Kolkata Management Association, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, INIS, etc. His views on the Climate Change and Corporate Sustainability have quite often been published in prominent and leading Indian print media.
